What is CPU and why we use CPU as a Computer

The CPU:  The central processing unit (CPU) is the brain of the computer. The computer cannot function without it . The CPU controls and processes all the information in the computer . It also directs and controls the flow of information out of the computer. The CPU is housed on a single chip called the microprocessor. It is located in the system unit.

Most CPUs can execute between 1 million and 100 million instructions per second.

     

The CPU has three components.

The arithmetic logic unit (ALU) performs all arithmetical calculations such as addition and multiplication and make all logical decisions.


The Control Unit (CU) directs different parts of the computer to carry out instructions.It controls communication and coordination between input /output devices and the computer.

The memory unit (MU) stores data and instructions to process.
